Training 2000 Celebrates Prestigious Beacon Recognition
![]()
Blackburn-based Training 2000 has been awarded Beacon status in recognition of its outstanding delivery of teaching and learning.
Training 2000 now joins the ranks of 176 providers in the UK with Beacon Status, making it only the ninth work-based learning provider in the North West to hold this prestigious accolade.
Beacon status is awarded by invitation to exemplar learning providers and trusted partners who promote and pursue excellence, celebrating outstanding delivery. The award reflects the commitment and achievements of those organisations that demonstrate leadership through their active role in raising standards more widely across the sector, as well as within their own organisations.
Staff from the training provider received the award from LSIS, the body responsible for learning and skills improvement in the wider further education sector, at a glittering ceremony held at Birmingham's National Motor Cycle Museum earlier this week.
Speaking at the ceremony Training 2000's chief executive, Steve Gray, said: "I cannot describe how delighted we are to have received Beacon status. This is the ultimate recognition that Training 2000 could have ever achieved and I am so proud to be heading back to Lancashire with this award.
"This is a testament to our commitment to skills improvement, not just of the learners we work with, but also to those in our own workforce and I'd like to thank them all for doing such a sterling job."
Beacon status is awarded to organisations funded by the Skills Funding Agency and/or the Young People's Learning Agency and is inspected by the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted). Key criteria states that providers should have no less than grade 2 in areas inspected by Ofsted and Training 2000 received six outstanding grade 1s during its inspection in March.
